The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1043.10 feet – dropping .30 feet this past week. Water temperatures are right around 39 degrees on the main Reservoir. The dunes are warming to the mid to upper 40s. Our temperatures are forecast to be 50-60 degrees for the highs this week. The ice is off the Reservoir and Seep Lakes!


Walleye fishing has been good this past week. Walleyes are being caught jigging ó oz. blade baits, jigging 3” minnow style baits on a 3/8 oz jig head in 28-40 feet, slow rolling a 3.80” swimbait on a 3/8” jig head and drop shotting 3-4” plastics. Slow Death rigs with a 2 oz. bottom walker and a crawler are picking up fish as well.


Largemouth Bass have moved into the sand dunes and are being caught on black & jigs, swim jigs, chatter baits and lipless crankbaits. Fisher 2-10 feet of water.


Trout are being caught in front of the State Park and off Medicare Beach. Troll # 5 or #7 Shad Rapsnof Flicker Shads. From Shore cast Rooster Tails or 4” curl tail grubs or fish the bottom with Power Bait. Several year around lakes are producing decent catches of trout.


No reports of panfish being caught yet.

MarDon Resort Fresh News March 15, 2023


The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1043.40 feet – dropping .60 feet this past

week. Water temperatures are right around 35-37 degrees. Our temperatures are forecast to

slowly rise over the next week with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the mid 30s. The sand

dunes continue to open up. Most of the Seep Lakes are ice free as is the main Reservoir.


Walleye fishing has been very good this past week. Walleye are being caught jigging ó oz. blade

baits and 3” Gulp Minnows in 28-40 feet.


Trout are being caught in front of the State Park and off Medicare Beach. Troll # 5 or #7 Shad

Raps of Flicker Shads. From Shore cast Rooster Tails or 4” curl tail grubs or fish the bottom

with Power Bait. Several year around lakes are producing decent catches of trout.
