MarDon Fresh News – April 20, 2018
The current water level on the Potholes reservoir is 1044.82
feet- up one foot from last week. The water temperature on the main Reservoir
is right about 50 degrees and in the low to mid 50’s back in the sand dunes.
The walleye fishing has been fair this past week with several
limits being caught. It has been difficult fishing due to the windy conditions.
The fish are being caught between 20 and 50 feet of water with the 35-40-foot
range being the most consistent. Fish are being caught on blade baits, trolling
Slow Death rigs with Smile Blades and Butterfly Blade rigs. Fish Lind Coulee,
Medicare Beach and the mouth of Crab Creek for the walleye.
Largemouth bass are being caught back in the dunes on
swimbaits, swim jigs, punch rigs, jig with a craw trailer, chatter baits and
spinnerbaits. Fish in the 4-6 lb. range are being caught. Fish up Frenchman’s
Wasteway and around Goose Island for Smallmouth. This weekend is the 39th
Annual Potholes Open Bass Tournament with a 132-boat field!
Trout are being caught in the Seep Lakes on Glitter Mallows,
Power Bait, and or worms. The top lakes
have been Soda, and Upper and Lower Hampton Lakes. No reports from the MarDon Dock
yet – but it will be picking up soon for trout and crappie as the water temp
rises.
