MarDon Resort Fresh News – May 18, 2023

MarDon Resort Fresh News – May 18, 2023

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1045.35 feet – rising .15 feet this week.

Water temperatures are right around 58 degrees on the main Reservoir. The dunes are

warming quickly with the warm weather. Temps are reaching the mid to upper-60s!

The walleye are very close to finishing up their spawn and will be retreating to the main lake

and back into the sand dunes to recover and feed. The walleye will be 5-30 feet deep right now depending on where they are in the spawn process and where they spawned. Fish the

shallower fish in the sand dunes with swim baits and lipless crank baits. Fish the deeper fish

with a Slow Death Hook – Smile Bade rig with a crawler and bottom bouncer.

Largemouth Bass fishing has been very good this week. A lot of 2–4-pound fish are being

caught and released! The Largemouth are in mid-spawn – some are done – some still on beds – some still coming up. Fish are being caught on black & blue jigs, swim jigs, chatter baits, Senkos and lipless crankbaits. Fish 2-10 feet of water. The frog bite is coming on nicely!

Smallmouth Bass are being caught on the face of the dam, on the rocks around Goose Island a in the sand dunes. Throw รณ oz. blade baits, 5” grubs, deep diving crankbaits, and Senkos.

Trout are being caught in front of the State Park and off Medicare Beach. Troll # 5 or #7 Shad

Raps of Flicker Shads. From Shore cast Rooster Tails or 5” curl tail grubs or fish the bottom with Power Bait. Warden Lake has been the hot Seep Lake this week.

There are some Bluegill and Crappie being caught back in the sand dunes and up Lind Coulee. Both are in mid-spawn and will eat if you find the spawning flats. Throw worms for Bluegill and Trout Magnets for both Bluegill and Crappie.
