MarDon Resort Fresh News – November 25, 2022

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1038.25 feet – coming up .90 feet over

the past week. The water temps on the Potholes Reservoir are in the mid to low 40s. Ice is

forming on the smaller ponds and on the shallower spots back in the sand dunes.

Not too many folks out fishing this past week, but the walleye bite remains good.

For trout - Troll Wee Gee spoons, Needlefish, or #7 Flicker Shads at 2-3 miles per hour.

Fish along Medicare Beach and in front of the State Park. Troll Wedding Rings with a worm

on the face of the sand dunes for trout – and all other species. Bank fish from Medicare

Beach using PowerBait or night crawlers on the bottom with a 1/4 oz. egg weight. A 5.00”

white grub on a . oz. jig head has been catching fish as well. Cast it out – let it get to the

bottom and slowly reel it back.

For bass – fish the face of the sand dunes in 10-25 feet. The rock piles between Goose

Island and the face of the dam, and the mouth of Crab Creek are producing some

smallmouth. Fish . oz. Norisada blade baits, tubes, jigs, swimbaits, and hula grubs.

Walleye fishing remains decent. Fish the humps on the face of the sand dunes. Fish 10-30

feet with a slow death rig and a 2 oz bottom walker and crawler. Jigging is an effective

technique this time of year. Jig . ounce blade baits in silver, perch, or red patterns or jig a

3.00” Gulp Minnow on a . ounce jig head.

Fish the face of the sand dunes and Lind Coulee for Panfish. Throw Bobby Garland Baby

Shads or, the Fisher Brothers DS Fry. Use a 1/32 oz jig head under a slip bobber. Troll #5

Flicker Shads along the face and just inside the dunes.

The duck hunting has been fair this week. Mixed bags of wigeon, teal, and a few mallards

have been reported.

Jason Daielson and his son braved a chilly but productive day this past weekend on the Potholes Reservoir!
