temperatures and the massive influx of freshly hatched fry of many species.
The Seep Lakes continue to produce decent trout fishing. Fish Warden, Hampton and
Upper Goose Lake. Troll Dick Nite Spoons and flies behind flashers or still fish with
PowerBait or Marshmallows and eggs. Fish deeper with the warmer water temperatures.
Trout fishing on the Potholes Reservoir has been fair this week. Troll Wee Gee spoons,
Needlefish, or #7 Flicker Shads at 2-3 miles per hour. Fish along Medicare Beach and in
front of the State Park. The sand dunes are producing quality trout fishing as well. Fish the
main creek channels trolling Wedding Rings with a worm.
The bass fishing has been excellent this week. There are a lot of 2–4-pound fish being
caught. Top baits: SPRO Frogs, ó oz jig with a craw trailer, a 3/8 oz. chatter bait, 5” wacky
rigged Senko, white spinnerbait and topwater baits. The rock piles between Goose Island
and the face of the dam have been producing decent smallmouth. ó oz. Norisada blade
baits, tubes, crankbaits and Senkos have been the top baits there.
Walleye fishing is good! The fish are still in the weeds feeding on fry. It can be a hassle –
but fish as close to or inside the weeds. In the sand dunes fish 4-18 feet with a slow death
rig and a 1-2 oz bottom walker and crawler on weed lines. Other anglers are doing well
throwing 1/2-ounce spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, and swim jigs for walleye in 3-8 feet of water.
Troll along and in the weeds. The walleye will be moving out to the fave of the dunes soon
as the water is dropping quickly.
Fish the sand dunes and Lind Coulee for Panfish. Look for spawning bluegill on shallow
flats in the dunes. Look for the crappies close to and in the willows. Throw Bobby Garland
Baby Shads in Monkey Milk or Blue Ice, the Fisher Brothers DS Fry in Sight Minnow color.
Use a 1/32 oz jig head on a slip bobber. The panfish will be moving out to the face of the
dunes soon.
