MarDon Fresh News – March 12, 2019
The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1043.33 feet – about 3.20 feet below full pool level. The water temperature on the Reservoir is in the low to mid 40 degrees. The Potholes Reservoir is ice free and launches are open.
The walleye fishing has picked up this week with several limits coming in. Vertically jig or cast Blade Baits, Jigging Raps, or Whistle Pigs over humps topping out at 25 feet of water. Trolling has been picking up fish as well. Troll a Slow Roll hook with either a crawler or a Berkley Killer Crawler with or without a Smile Blade. Troll slow - .5- .8 mph.
The exciting news this week is that the largemouth are back in the dunes and being caught! Find the warmer water back in the dunes and pitch and flip jigs with a trailer, throw wacky rigged Senkos and slow roll swimbaits and spinnerbaits. Fish in the 4-7-pound range have been reported this week.
No reports from the dock as it has been closed for repair. We hope to have it open within two weeks – call the tackle store for status.
Trout anglers are concentrating on the Medicare beach area either trolling wedding ring rigs with a worm or Needlefish. From shore - fish Power Bait or a marshmallow/egg combination.
Call the MarDon Store for the latest fishing and info and to make reservations at 509-346-2651.
