 MarDon Resort Fresh News – May 28, 2024

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1046.05 feet – rising .40 feet this past week. The

water temperature on the main lake is right around 65 degrees. The sand dunes are in the mid to upper

60s. The cooler temperatures this past week have slowed the demand for irrigation.


The Largemouth bass fishing conCnues to be very good. Fish back in the sand dunes. Throw . oz black & blue jigs, swim jigs, jerkbaits, chaKer baits, Senkos, spinnerbaits, frogs, and Texas rigged plasCcs. Fish are in 1-12 feet of water. Some of the Largemouth are sCll on beds.


The Smallmouth are sCll spawning. Fish 5-20 feet using Ned rigs, Senkos, spinner baits, drop shot rigs,

blade baits, crankbaits and tubes. Fish the rock piles around Goose Island and along the face of the dam

and up Lind Coulee.


Walleye fishing is improving. The Walleye have finished their spawn. The Walleye are in the

weeds back in the sand dunes and up Crab Creek. Troll a slow death rig with a crawler at .8-1.2

mph or cast paddle tail swim baits. Fish in 6-15 feet of water.


Trout fishing has been good – several reports of 4 plus pound trout have come in. Troll # 7

Flicker Shads or spoons 2-3 mph. Fish Medicare Beach or from MarDon Resort to Blythe Point.

The Seep Lakes south of the Potholes Reservoir are fishing well for trout! Top lakes are Warden,

Upper Hampton, and Upper Goose. Use PowerBait 18” off the bottom or cast Rooster Tails.


The crappie and bluegill are spawning back in the sand dunes. Use a slip bobber and a Bobby

Garland Baby Shad or DS Fry along the channels and along the willows. Fish 6-15 feet. Also try

trolling a #5 Flicker Shad in the channels.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1045.65 feet – dropping .25 feet this past week. The water temperature on the main lake is right around 65 degrees. The sand dunes are in the mid to upper 60s. It is dropping now with the irrigation demand.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1045.90 feet – dropping .45 feet this past week. The water temperature on the main lake is right around 64 degrees. The sand dunes are in the mid to upper 60s. The Potholes Reservoir did make it to full pool this year – to .05 feet above normal full pool. It is dropping now with the temperatures and irrigation demand.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1046.35 feet – coming up .15 feet this past week.

We are currently .15 feet below full pool. The water temperature on the main lake is right around 50

degrees. The sand dunes are staying in the mid to upper 50s.


The Largemouth bass fishing conFnues to be very good. Fish back in the sand dunes. Throw . oz black & blue jigs, swim jigs, jerkbaits, chaMer baits, Senkos, spinnerbaits, frogs, and Texas rigged plasFcs. Fish are in 1-12 feet of water. The Largemouth are on beds.
