MarDon Fresh News – November 20, 2020

MarDon Fresh News – November 20, 2020

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1036.59 feet – up .93 feet from last week. The water temperature on the Potholes Reservoir is in the upper 40’s.

Not much has changed this week fishing-wise. The mild temps are keeping the fish active enough to make it worth a trip to the Reservoir for some late fall fishing!

The largemouth bass fishing was fair this week.  Anglers are finding on the face of the dunes and along the face of the dam. Fish jerkbaits, blade baits, skirted hula grubs, jigs, and crankbaits in 10-25 feet of water.

Walleye fishing continues to be fair. Jigging ½ ounce blade baits, curl tail grubs, Whistle Pigs, and trolling worms behind a 2-ounce bottom bouncer on a slow death hook with a crawler.  Fish in 10-28 feet of water. Mark fish on the humps in front of the dunes and drop your jigs down. Fish the face of the dam with deep diving jerkbait as well.

Fish the rock piles around Goose Island, the face of the dam and the face of the sand dunes with Swimbaits, Ned Rigs, Hula grubs and drop shot lures for Smallmouth.

For trout - Troll a #7 Flicker Shad 100 feet out the back of the boat. Chrome Clown, Slick Blue Alewife, and Flashy Perch have been producing trout in the 2-5-pound range. Troll at 2-2.5 mph. The Wicked Lures Trout Killer has been producing trout and walleye as well. Best fishing has been out in front of the Potholes State Park. From shore – fish Medicare Beach with marshmallows and Powerbait and worms 18” off the bottom.

Crappie and Bluegill fishing was fair this week this week along the face of the dunes and at the mouth of Crab Creek. Troll a number 5 Flicker Shad or fish Baby Shads, DS Frys and Trout Magnets on a 1/32nd oz. tipped with a maggot vertically jigged or with a slip bobber.

Duck hunting has been good this week! Mixed bags of Mallard, Teal, Wigeon, and Pintail are being reported.

The Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee would like to extend a huge thank you to Paul Harmon and to the members of the Potholes Bass Club! The club made a wonderful donation of $1,000 to continue the Committee’s fish habitat restoration project on the Potholes Reservoir. The donation will be used to purchase the raw materials required to build more habitat boxes. The habitat project is in its 16th year out of a 20-year plan.  Approximately 3,200 habitat boxes have been placed in the Potholes Reservoir. As many know, the habitat project has had a tremendous positive impact on the health of the Reservoir.
