Current status at MarDon Resort:

The Potholes Reservoir will open for fishing on Tuesday, May 5^th, 2020.

The Beach House Café will be open 4:00 – 8:00pm on Tuesday – May 5^th to celebrate Cinco De Mayo for take-out only! Normal hours for the Beach house will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – 4:00 – 8:00pm – take-out only until further notice. 

The MarDon Resort tackle store will open Monday, May 4^th – we have been working hard to get the tackle you need on the shelves! Stop by to get what you need to start catching fish from day one of this season!

Reservations: Camping/Lodging – please call the office at 509-346-2651. The office is open – but operating under limited hours Monday thru Saturday.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1042.57 feet – which is 3.93 feet below potential full pool of 1046.50 feet – which typically occurs around the 15^th of May. It appears that the Bureau is pushing water in to bring the water level up.  The water temperature on the Reservoir is in the mid to upper 50’s – with some boaters reporting water temps in the low 60’s back in the sand dunes.  

The walleye should be spawning now.  Start by trolling a slow death rig/smile blade and half of a crawler up and around the mouth of Crab Creek. And up tighter to the face of the dunes.

The Largemouth bite will be in full swing! Big fish should be staging and should be up on beds as well. Pitch black & blue jigs/trailers on points of the dunes, cast swim jigs, have a wacky rigged Senko for sight fishing in the boat!

The COVID–19 virus has interrupted and changed plans for many of us.  As most know, the “stay-at-home order” has been extended thru May 4, 2020. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has decided to coincide the opening of recreational fishing with the lifting of the Statewide “stay-at-home” order on May 5, 2020 as of today.

The fishing should be absolutely amazing on the Potholes Reservoir and in the Seep Lakes once the fishing season re-opens! The fish will have had zero fishing pressure for over a month. A future benefit to the closure is that the fish will be able to spawn without angling pressure. We expect an extremely healthy spawn for all species, and this will be reflected in some incredible fishing in the years to come.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1041.30 feet – 5.20 feet below max full pool level. In years past high water comes in around May 15^th. The water temperature on the Potholes Reservoir is at 50 degrees with temps reaching 54 degrees back in the sand dunes.

As it stands now in a our fluid environment:

Public fishing will open May 5, 2020.

The Potholes Bass Club has cancelled the Potholes Open, April 18-19.

Limit Out Marine – Big Bass Tournament – was scheduled for April 25 - 26 – shifted to May 7 & 8.

The Rod Meseberg Spring Walleye Classic - was scheduled for May 2–3 has shifted to May 30 & 31 – With this Spring closure and zero pressure – big weights are waiting!

The Beach House at MarDon Resort is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for take out orders. 509.346.9688.

The resort is closed to overnight camping – but we are manning the phones to handle reservations Monday through Saturday. 509.346.2651.  If you had a reservation for April/Early May, we are in the process of connecting with you to arrange for a refund of your paid deposit or a change of your arrival dates.  

We appreciate you and please stay safe.  We are asking that you follow the “Shelter In Place Order” so we can get back to fishing on May 5^th.
